Making Money Online With A Domain Name

There are several ways of making money with a domain name. Before i start discussing these ways i should start by defining what a domain name is.

An internet domain name is a set of characters which are translated into an IP number which is the address of a computer on the internet. An example for a domain name would be www.domainname.com.

There are endless possibilities for domain names. Of course the good ones are taken. Good domain names can include www.google.com www.news.com and so on.

The ways of making money with domain names are:

1.  Misspelling - acquire a domain name similar to a famous domain name. Many people type the website url manually and misspell it. For example xnn.com or mews.com (these are already takes unfortunately), they are getting a lot of traffic and you can place advertisements on them or even sell them to the original owner. Google for example bought all possible combinations of google.com like goooooooooogle.com etc…

2.  Market place of domain names - Buy a good name and sell it for a higher price. If you find a domain name which looks good, short and attractive you can sell it for a higher price eventually.

3. Expired domains - gain from other people’s mistakes. You can read the story about the hotmail.co.uk renewal mishap here and understand what i mean by expired domains.
